Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to A2Z Ozone! We manufacture and sell high-quality ozone generators using Corona Discharge Technology for residential and commercial applications. Below are answers to our most common questions. For technical questions not covered here, please contact us at [email protected] or call +1 502 499 4977 (option 1).

Getting Started

A2Z Ozone generators are designed for a wide range of applications including air treatment, water purification, odor elimination, food storage, pool treatment, and more. We have an option for almost any ozone application you need.

Product-Specific Questions

The Aqua-8 produces 800 mg per hour. Each 20-minute run produces 1/3 of 800 mg (approximately 267 mg) when using an oxygen feed. With ambient air only, it produces 2.5 mg/L airflow. The internal air pump airflow is approximately 1 LPM (liter per minute).

Lower flow rates result in higher ozone concentration. Higher oxygen flow rates dilute the ozone, reducing the concentration levels but hire total ozone output.

The Air-3500 unit has a power consumption of 95 watts.

We recommend running your unit for 2 minutes for an 8 oz glass of water. This amount of time is generally good for most water types.

For a gallon of filtered water using ambient air, we recommend running the MP3000 for approximately 5 minutes.

Replace stones and tubing as needed or every 6 months. You can clean the fan screen as often as necessary.

SP-Series, MP-Series, S-Series, and Z-Series require a 5/16” check valve. The Aqua-Series requires a 1/4″ check valve.

For a 1″ pipe, use a 1/2″ venturi injector. We recommend ½ size smaller from your piping to ensure adequate pressure.

Technology Questions

The ceramic plate in our ozone generators produces Corona Discharge—they’re the same technology.

The FDA does not approve specific ozone generators. While the EPA regulates ozone generators (we display our EPA number on our website and units), regulation compliance is different from approval. Any company claiming FDA or EPA approval is misleading.

The main difference is in the output and the method of production:

  • Corona discharge uses electricity and produces high ozone levels
  • UV uses ultraviolet light and produces low ozone levels

Corona discharge produces significantly more ozone—often 10 to 100 times more than UV systems.

Corona discharge is better because it provides:

  • Higher ozone concentration
  • More effective oxidation
  • Better scalability for larger systems

If using ambient air without an oxygen source, they can produce nitrogen oxides (NOx).
Using an oxygen concentrator or dry air system greatly reduces this.

UV generators are often considered simpler to use. They produce lower output, therefore, less risk of overexposure and they are free of nitrogen oxides.

However, they are not suitable for high-demand applications. Operating with ozone in any form requires caution. Corona discharge units require more caution. That’s why A2Z Ozone offers an Ozone Destructor and support to ensure you get the safest and best possible experience.

Corona discharge: Yes, humidity reduces output significantly. That is why we recommend using an oxygen generator or an air dryer to protect your machine and increase clean, pure ozone production.

UV: No, it does not affect ozone output; it remains stable, but the amount of ozone produced is smaller.

UV lamps: Typically last 4,000–10,000 hours.

CD plates/electrodes: Typically last 3,000–7,000 hours. We partner with you. With your fine care and our expert service department, your unit can last much longer.

Only for small-scale or light-duty applications.
UV cannot replace corona discharge where high ozone levels are required.

Choose Corona Discharge for:

  • Hydroponics
  • Water treatment
  • Commercial/industrial use
  • Heavy-duty use

Choose UV for:

  • Small air purification
  • Odor control
  • Light-duty use

Some customers use UV for a supplement to corona discharge for certain heavy applications.

Yes — when properly dosed and dissolved in the nutrient solution or irrigation water, ozone breaks down into oxygen before it reaches plant tissue. Peer-reviewed studies confirm no detectable residue on produce at standard treatment doses. See our article, “How Ozone Supercharges Hydroponics with the Z-Series Commercial Ozone Generator” for more information.

Ozone treats the water, not the root zone directly. If you are running a biological system, apply ozone upstream before the nutrient reservoir, not at the roots. The Z-Series is designed for recirculating systems where controlled contact time protects your biology while eliminating pathogens in solution.

Both are oxidizing agents, but ozone (O₃) is roughly 1.5× more powerful as an oxidizer and leaves no chemical residue. It breaks down into pure oxygen (O₂). Hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) requires precise dosing to avoid root damage and leaves residual peroxide in solution.

Yes. Deep water culture (DWC) systems benefit significantly from ozone because the recirculating water is in continuous contact with roots. Introduce ozone at the reservoir inlet, not directly at root level, and use an appropriately sized contact tank or venturi injector for proper dissolution.

Testing & Measurement

We offer two types of testing equipment in our accessories section:

Visit our Monitors and Testing

https://a2zozone.com/product-category/monitors-and-testing/ How many gallons can my unit handle?

It depends on how much water, water quality, and factors such as temperature and humidity. The ozone concentration is also a factor.

We offer calibration services at our facility using specialized equipment. You can either:

For calibration requests, please call +1 502 499 4977.
**First calibration is free with all lab units.

Water & Safety

Yes. Some people drink reverse osmosis water. When ozonating water without an oxygen source, small amounts of nitrous oxide may be produced as a byproduct. This is a normal occurrence.

Water ozone treatment can extend food shelf life by at least one week.

As we are not medical professionals, we cannot provide advice on how long ozone takes to kill pathogens or on specific health-related applications. Contact your doctor or practitioner for this advice.
